Little Girls in the Big, Wide World
Little Girls in the Big, Wide World
She’s a three-time marathon runner who has conquered the Marine Corps, NYC, and Chicago Marathons, once studied abroad in Rome while interning for the Vatican’s Catholic News Service, and recently became a mom to a baby girl named Isla — inspired by her family’s love for Newport.
The idea for her debut book, Little Girls in the Big, Wide World, came to her after completing the incredibly challenging 18-mile Half Dome hike in Yosemite with her sister and sister-in-law. Feeling empowered by what she accomplished, she wanted to create a story that encourages young girls to dream big, explore the world, and believe in their own strength.
Every character in the book is inspired by someone she loves. Nonna Maria is a heartfelt tribute to her late grandmother, Maria, from Calabria, Italy, who passed away in 2023. That personal connection makes the story even more meaningful to share — especially now with her daughter Isla in her arms.
Her book follows three adventurous friends who set out to experience the wonders of the world — from the Grand Canyon to Paris to Bali and Iceland — all while learning meaningful lessons about courage, curiosity, conservation, and cultural appreciation. Through vibrant illustrations and a heartwarming message, Little Girls in the Big, Wide World inspires children to see the world as full of possibility and to pursue every dream with confidence.
